Determinants of Contraceptive Use in the Gambia

Buba Jadama, Government

This research paper on the topic "Determinants of Contraceptive Use in the Gambia" is making use of the Gambia Demographic and Health Survey (GDHS) conducted in 2013. The main objective of the paper is to identify the level of contraceptive use as well as major determinants of contraceptive use among women of reproductive age in the Gambia. This study depends first on a descriptive analysis in which the relationship between current use of contraceptives among women and other background characteristics was investigated using chi-square test. Furthermore, binary logistic regression model was used in which it considered use of contraceptives (as dependent variable) against some important background characteristics such as area of residence, highest level of education, marital status, and wealth index (as independent variables).
