Addressing the Root Causes of Irregular Migration and Sustainable Land Reforms in Africa

Samuel Mwangi, Tübingen University
Cirella Giuseppe, University of Gdansk

The only approach to manage the challenge of forced displacement in Africa is to address the root causes. Root causes include, and not limited to historical issues. We propose a sustainable land reform as one perspective of addressing the root causes. We link the concept of human security to land security and relates them to socio-ecological vulnerability and resilience. It also explores sustainable land reforms as one comprehensive perspective of irregular migration management within the European Union-Africa partnership on migration control.
